Awwwwwww.
The place where I took this photo was a fairly high-traffic area of Brookdale Community College, so I had to think twice about contorting myself into the compromising position necessary to take this photo. However, about 15 feet away from me was a woman standing, staring at the ground, and talking loudly and clearly to herself (MAYYYYBE she had a hands-free headset or something… but she wasn’t using her hands! they just hung at her sides). I decided that her situation was more embarrassing than mine, and if SHE was willing to look like such a looney in the middle of campus, then I shouldn’t have any problem with it! So I knelt down to take the picture without another thought.

I really like this picture, mainly because the subject is so good and because it’s clear you had to put yourself in a weird position, even without describing it. (I still think there should be more pictures of you taking pictures.)
This shot is… loud. I mean, there is detail and contrast and saturation galore. I find it edgy and dynamic.
Incidentally, the shell looks remarkably like a chicken egg, as you would see in a store. To me, the surrounding grass and sticks also corroborate the size, though perhaps I’m misjudging. How big was it? (Could someone have simply dropped an actual chicken egg there?)

Nooooo. It was about the size of your thumb. Well, it was about the size of my thumb. It was about the size of my dachshund’s nose. It was about the size of a large grape.
Glad you like it– more than that, I’m thrilled that you can articulate why.
