mailbox

…but she dropped one
(by the seashore).

(I’m not going to harbor any false impressions that this is a fantastic macro. It’s overexposed, and it was taken with my old Nikon, which has a very finicky macro setting and doesn’t like to focus on whatever subject I have in mind. BUT! It is neither a landscape nor an architectural shot, both of which dominate my winter photography… so enjoy it while you can. :) )

Hosta

In Suburbia, people use hostas to adorn the area around their mailboxes as well as for general landscaping purposes.

Personally, I think they’re kind of ugly and badly-proportioned. The flower stalks are wayyyyy too tall and skinny for the bushy plants to which they belong.

Bluebeans.

Theme Day! This month, the daily photo theme is “a public mail box.”

As far as I’m aware, most public mail boxes in this county look pretty much like the public mail boxes everywhere else in the United States. I’m sure I’m wrong, but I can’t show you what I don’t know.

If you want something vaguely interesting, I’ve already posted a picture of a private mailbox.

A whale-box?

Well, I’m going to be unartistic today because I’m exhausted.

This is a landmark mailbox on a major noteworthy local street. The name of the street? “Whalepond Road.”

Whoever owns this whale mailbox also has an entire front yard garden(?) full of nautical-looking paraphenalia (think periscopes and old-fashioned diver helmets), so he/she/they apparently have a penchant for quirky lawn ornamentation.
