gun gun guns

I didn’t get close enough to read the plaque that accompanies this gun, and my half-hour of Google-fu has produced absolutely nothing… but there’s a cannon in the middle of the barracks at Fort Hancock. I’ve heard the name “Big Bertha” tossed around, but that might refer to one of the steam-lift guns that inhabited some of the batteries.

(Steam-lift guns? Well, there were hydraulics to lift these massive guns over the roof of the battery, where they could be fired… and then the guns would be lowered back down for reloading. This is apparently something unique to Fort Hancock.)
